DESCRIPTION:Rogers Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink is a non-profit program under the Calgary Shaw Charity Classic Foundation. This program is designed to help raise new funds for local charities\, engage the community in the tournament\, and provide matching funds for each charity involved. \n\nYou can donate online or by cheque until August 31\nDonations can be made to the Shaw Charity Classic Foundation matching pool or directly to a participating charity\nDonations directed to a participating charity are matched up to 50% using the Foundation matching pool\nAll administrative costs are covered by the tournament\, meaning 100% of all donations will go directly to the charity selected.\n\n			\n				Donate to FearIsNotLove and have it matched!\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				When you donate to FearIsNotLove you are making an impact on those living in fear within thier close relationships. SUMMARY:Moving Ahead: A Cross-Sectoral Workshop on Recognizing and Responding to Brain Injury from Intimate Partner Violence
DESCRIPTION:Many survivors of physical intimate partner violence are also living with the lasting effects of brain injury caused by concussion or strangulation. This workshop is designed to equip frontline professionals with practical knowledge and tools to better recognize and respond to this often hidden public health issue. \nParticipants will leave with practical tools to recognize signs of brain injury\, apply trauma-informed approaches\, and confidently respond to and support victims\, including using adapted screening tools. \nJoin us for this free\, interactive day of learning and collaboration with professionals from gender-based violence services\, health care\, legal\, policing\, and other sectors. \nFeaturing expert presenters from SOAR: \n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					Karen Mason\n					Co-founder and Executive Director \n					Karen Mason is co-founder and executive director for SOAR (Supporting Survivors of Abuse and Brain Injury through Research)\, and former executive director of Third Space Charity and Kelowna Women’s Shelter in Kelowna\, British Columbia\, Canada. A seasoned and passionate non-profit leader\, communicator\, and community collaborator\, Karen brings 30+ years of career experience in the private\, public\, and non-profit sectors to her work advocating for survivors of intimate partner violence\, conducting knowledge translation and mobilization activities\, and supporting research\, development\, and dissemination of promising practices. Karen is a dynamic and compelling presenter who has training in trauma informed practice and advanced strangulation prevention\, and is a member of the Pink Concussions Partner-Inflicted Brain Injury Task Force\, the Women’s Health Research Cluster at University of British Columbia\, and the ENIGMA International Consortium Working Group on Brain Injury in Intimate Partner Violence. \n					\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					Dr. Paul van Donkelaar\n					Co-founder and Scientific Advisor \n					Dr. Paul van Donkelaar is co-founder and scientific advisor for SOAR (Supporting Survivors of Abuse and Brain Injury through Research). He is also a professor in the School of Health and Exercise Sciences at the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan campus in Kelowna\, B.C. Dr. van Donkelaar’s research focuses on the basic mechanisms of sensorimotor control and the cerebrovascular\, neurocognitive\, and sensorimotor aspects of brain dysfunction resulting from traumatic brain injuries.
