Neglect, violence and abuse are life-altering terrorizing behaviours. They are never ‘okay’. No matter what the ‘past history’ or ‘what you did.’ Every human deserve the right to feel safe, respected, supported, and loved.

Domestic violence and abuse happens when someone close to you uses abusive behaviour toward you. The person behaving abusively could be anyone, including your partner, adult children, parents, in-laws, friends, or siblings. 

Abuse is a deliberate behavior in which one person chooses to dominate, control or harm another. People use abuse against the will of victims, who never ask or choose to be abused. People who experience abuse tend to know when behaviour is abusive. Trust your instincts and remember …you are the expert in your own life. 

Abuse takes many forms, including

  • Name calling
  • Making threats 
  • Vilifying a person on social media (spreading lies or posting explicit photos) 
  • Monitoring or tracking a person’s movements or phone use
    Isolating them from friends and family
  • Stalking, harassing
  • Physical or sexual violence
  • And more.

Concerned about your behaviour, or that you may have hurt someone?

We believe people who use abuse can change because domestic violence and abuse are behaviours. And we believe that people’s behaviours can change, given the right motivation, resources, support and understanding. That’s why we also support people who are concerned they may have hurt someone, or are struggling with anger issues.
